6 - 8 November 2011 Gold Coast Convention & Exhibition Centre
Congress Program
and Theme
The theme of the ACAA 30th Annual Congress is
Magical Mystery Tour ? the long and winding road
The Congress Program will be innovative, informative
and educational, offering a number of outstanding
keynote speakers, supported by invited specialist
speakers. In addition, concurrent sessions will feature
submitted papers, in which a range of issues relating to
aged care will be addressed.
Topics for Discussion
Four (4) heading have been chosen for the 2011
Congress Call for Papers, they are as follows:
Productivity Commission Review and Reform
The release of the aged care report from the
Productivity Commission raises the prospect of
unprecedented reform of aged care. Will the
Government take up this challenge? Will Providers
support the reform? Will consumers welcome the new
directions?
Panel session ? Residential Care, Community
Care and Retirement Living Interface
As is the case in many overseas jurisdictions Australia
is gradually seeing a coming together of care and
accommodation systems that had previously operated
in silos. Will this trend continue? Is it in response to
consumer expectations, provider efficiency drivers or
sheer commonsense?
Innovative Service Models
Will tomorrow's consumer be happy to accept todays
solutions? Will technology change the face of care
options? Will future consumers take much greater
management of their healthcare and health data?
Community
Australians are emphatic that they wish to stay in
their own home and live independently for the rest of
their lives. Is this aspiration sustainable? Why are twice
as many older Americans prepared to change their
housing options in older age? Is their a problem in
Australia with the image of care and housing options
for the elderly.
